10th EVALSDGS/IIED Briefing paper is now available online!

As many of you are aware, IIED and EVALSDGs are publishing a series of briefings about evaluation and the SDGs.  The Briefings are designed to help promote effective conduct and use of evaluation in SDGs implementation, follow-up and review.

We are delighted to let you know that the 10TH EVALSDGs Briefing Paper is now available online at the link below. The title is: Equity-focused, gender-responsive evidence: a blind spot in VNR reporting. For this issue EVALSDGs partnered with the EvalGender+ and UN Women Independent Evaluation Service.

This issue analyses 46 Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) presented at the 2018 High-level Political Forum (HLPF).  Main findings include that, although monitoring is strong, evaluation receives almost no attention; VNR reporting is not incorporating evaluative evidence, particularly equity-focused and gender-responsive evidence; and that access to disaggregated data is a core challenge to tracking progress.

Nevertheless, countries are actively looking for solutions, recognising that gender equality is an enabler and accelerator in achieving all the SDGs; and that equity-focused, gender responsive implementation, assessment and evaluation of the 2030 Agenda offers an opportunity for transformative change to achieve gender equality and equity in the SDGs era and beyond.
