About VOPES

What is a VOPE?
Voluntary Organizations for Professional Evaluation (VOPEs) is an umbrella term for groups dedicated to advancing evaluation as a profession. These organizations operate at various levels—regional, national, and sometimes international—and serve as platforms for evaluation practitioners from diverse fields, including government, academia, and non-governmental organizations.

VOPEs are committed to promoting equity-focused and gender-responsive evaluations, aiming to influence organizational and national evaluation policies to benefit society at large

If you are interested in having your organization recognized as a VOPE by the IOCE, please review the definition of a VOPE on the About VOPEs page. If you believe your organization meets this definition, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Visit the VOPE Registration Page: Navigate to the VOPE registration portal.
  2. Choose Your Membership Type: Decide whether your organization will register as a Contributing VOPE Member or a Regular VOPE Member.
  3. Complete the Profile Questionnaire: Fill out the profile questionnaire provided in the portal. This detailed questionnaire will help IOCE assess whether your organization aligns with the VOPE definition.

After submitting the profile, IOCE will review your responses to determine whether your organization qualifies as a VOPE.

For any questions or further assistance, feel free to reach out to Jim Rugh (jimrugh@mindspring.com), Volunteer VOPE Database Coordinator for IOCE.
